Get to know me!
Hi, I'm Abdiqani, from Ottawa! I enjoy solving challenging problems, and I do it with the use of code! I'm a Sophmore at Carleton University, where I'm studying Computer Science. In particular, I love learning about cybersecurity and working with and I do a bunch of Full-Stack development too.
Besides coding, some of my other passions are the following:
- Somali Student Association: I'm currently the treasurer for Carleton's Somali Students Association where we hold events and panels to introduce Soamli culture to members of the Carleton community!
- Sports: Whether it's watching or playing, you can catch me cheering on the Toronto Raptors and other Canadadian sports teams, or playing a quick pick-up game of basketball
- Hobbies: Some of my other hobbies include scenic biking & hiking, playing NBA 2k & board games with friends and trying new dishes!

- Developed a React Native mobile interface for a smart prosthetic system, implementing responsive UI and device integrations (live telemetry, gesture modes, preset control) to support real-time patient use and clinical monitoring.
- Architected Firebase infrastructure with secure authentication, real-time data synchronization, and encrypted database operations, reducing load times by 300ms.
- Developing a RESTful API with 8 endpoints to integrate front-end and back-end systems, reducing data retrieval time by 330ms and enabling 3 new feature implementations.
